When compared to traditional tattooing, Lip Blushing is very similar to the “whip-shading” or “pepper-shading” techniques. There are several types of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing procedures achieved by adding pigments to the skin using small needles, and lip blushing is one of them. That said, lip blushing is a procedure in which pigment is added to the lips for the purpose of cosmetic enhancement instead of tattooing for traditional art.

How Does Lip Blushing Work?
Unlike a regular tattoo that uses a needle to deposit ink, lip blushing uses a tiny blade to make cuts into your skin. Ink is deposited into each cut. The Lip color is applied to the entire lip surface by the micro-pigmentation process. We then redefine the shape of the lips, if desired, correcting imperfections in symmetry or shape. We can even redesign the outline of the lips to create a more desirable look you will love. A few weeks after the procedure, touch-ups are performed, leaving you with full, gorgeous lips.
Preparing For Your Lip Blushing Appointment in New Jersey
No alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours
No blood thinners
You can’t be pregnant or breastfeeding
No antibiotics 2 months prior
If you have a scar on your lip, send a photo before your appointment
If you ever had a cold sore, shingles, or herpes simplex for your safety you must take
Valtrex before the procedure, during the procedure, and 7 days after your lip procedure.
No Botox and fillers 1 month before or after your lip procedure.
Moisturize and exfoliate lips before your appointment
Do not come in If your lips are dry, chapped, or split open on the day of your appointment. If you have any of these, please reschedule.
Lip procedure can only change the color of the lips not alter the natural shape.
Take out any lip piercings on the day of your appointment.
Touch-ups are recommended every 2-3 years to prevent fading.
Lip Blushing AfterCare
Your lips will appear very dark and bright, but will gain a more tinted natural look once they are healed!
Please refrain from exercising for at least 5 days after your service.
Starting on day 1, please use sterile water and cotton gauze to wipe the affected area. Keep your lips moist at all times, Aquifer or A+D ointment is recommended!
By day 4 most of the peeling should be completed. Your lips will feel dry and chapped, keep moisturized!
After the scabs come off, the color will appear soft and almost ‘frosty’ looking but the color will come back little by little every day for 28 days. Keep moisturized!
Do not pick, peel, or scratch your scabs, and no makeup until the scabs are gone!
Avoid spicy foods or direct contact with foods and drinks for the next 2 days. Use a straw when drinking liquids!

Your Lip Blushing results will fade naturally to lighter and lighter shades of the color that you selected with your Artist.

Yes! Warmer and lighter colors are needed to adjust the darkness generically present in these cases. For example, a peachy/pink color would just heal pink and the peach tones would neutralize the dark tones in the lips.

We make a custom lip color for each client. We will choose a color together at your appointment.

Traditional lip tattoos are deeper in the skin making them permanent and oftentimes, harsh looking. Lip blushing stays shallow, working in the epidermal layers of the skin. This is the reason Lip Blushing is a semi-permanent makeup procedure, and it gives a more natural look.

Lip Blushing can last 2- 3 years, but results can vary from person to person. Sun exposure and smoking can speed up how quickly your color fades.

Appointments can be made through the online booking system on this website. When a booking is live, you will see a booking calendar under the booking section. A nonrefundable and nontransferable booking fee is required to make the appointment. There are no appointments made by phone! If you do not see dates, the site is not broken, that just means all dates have been selected and new ones will be released on our next booking day!
